QUALITY. EFFORT. COMMUNITY.

THESE ARE OUR PILLARS

QUALITY

In here, quality is paramount. We are in it for the long haul, training for long term health and fitness, pushing when it’s appropriate and the goals require it. We take the time to do things right, to teach and to learn, always focusing on proper form and movement patterns. Athletes in here are never surprised when a coach notices a movement issue and then asks them to drop the weight and return to the basics. That humility matters so much more than the numbers being thrown around in here. But it’s not just about quality of movement, it’s also about quality of character. Egos are dropped at the door, hard work is required, and supporting one another easily becomes the norm.

EFFORT

What does effort mean? We ask for it from every single one of you, every day, but what do we mean when we say effort? It varies wildly, doesn’t it? It depends on the day, on all of the external factors coming at you outside of the gym; it depends on whether or not you’re rested or hydrated or sore. One person’s effort will appear, on the outside, as very different from the next person’s during the very same workout. Does that make one person’s effort any better than the next? Absolutely not. Effort doesn’t necessarily mean working so hard that you collapse when the timer sounds, that’s not our definition. What we ask for is your attention. Attention to yourself, to your mind and your body, and to the purpose and intended stimulus of the workout. And then we ask you to act accordingly. Attempting it all with everything you have on that particular day. Doing your best. Sometimes the hardest part, the part that takes the greatest effort, is walking through the door. We commend that just as much as we celebrate those who willingly push themselves until they’re dripping with sweat and can’t do any more. We just ask for your best effort, today.

COMMUNITY

Every gym has a community. It’s what happens when like minded people get together to work hard and share in a common goal. But that’s not what we mean by community. In 2019 we gave nearly $2,500 back to the Moab community, and we strive each year following to give even more. Our community and culture in the gym is strong, they know what it means to support each other when things get hard, and they know how much that support means. We want to show our larger community what that means by giving back as much as we can. The people that choose to workout in here come from all walks of life, with different experiences, political leanings, occupations - but in here we all put in the same work and celebrate each other every day. It’s electric, what happens in here, and we want to spread that feeling to our bigger community, regardless of whether or not we see them in the gym.

Our hour-long classes are structured in the following way:

  • Warm-up: breathe, stretch, move

  • Strength/weightlifting or skill work

  • The day's workout

  • Cool down/Core and mobility work

Each class is run by a coach that has been trained in all of the movements they will be guiding you through. It is very important to note here that every single movement can be scaled/modified to your ability.

The beauty of these workouts is that they are different every day.

You won't get bored, you'll constantly be learning new things, and you can show up to the gym and not have to think about what you're going to do for the next hour. Your fitness level will increase so you can do what you love even better, and reduce your risk of injury because you will be stronger, more resilient, and more confident overall.

But wait...

What if I haven't worked out in ages?

What if I have no idea what I'm doing?

What if I think I'm out of shape/too old/don't have time/have never lifted weights before/am scared of hurting myself/think our gym is too hard core?

Then you're not alone! Each and every one of us has started at the very beginning. We all know what it's like to get those butterflies in your stomach before you start something new, but don't let that stop you. Part of what we teach in the gym is how to get comfortable getting uncomfortable.

We also want to make sure you get the one-on-one attention you need, both so that we can help you learn the basic movements so that you can workout safely and with confidence, and also so that you have the opportunity to share with us your fitness goals. That is why our classes are kept small, and we're always available before and after class for questions and to review movements.
